Bio


     Blake Hiltunen graduated with distinction from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, with a double major in sculpture and art history.  Hiltunen spent a year studying sculpture and Italian Renaissance art history at the Studio Arts Centers International (SACI) in Florence, Italy.  In his senior year, Hiltunen won first place for the Helen Blair Crosbie Award-an award given to the most promising student of the 3-D department.   After receiving his degree, he moved to Northern Italy to study under the American sculptor Marguerite Kahrl.  From Italy he travelled through Europe and participated in Disruption: a workshop by artist Rirkrit Tiravanija and curator Marti Peran in Mataro, Spain.  He has shown in Boston, New York, and Italy and has work in the permanent collection of Francesca Romana Bartoletti, Palazzo D’Arcevia, Italy.  He is currently living and exhibiting in Portland, ME, where he is pursuing his unique vision through the disciplines of sculpture, drawing, and painting.
